![]() ![]() (for this reason, a liveview + swivel is much more powerful than a liveview mode on a fixed screen). However, the 'liveview' is very useful when composing in situations where it's difficult to get to the viewfinder or when shooting over a crowd, etc. It gives more stability and a better 'feel' for the picture (part of this could be that, on my camera, the EVF has a much higher resolution than the LCD). I mainly use the viewfinder (EVF in my case) for composing. I'm currently still with a P&S, so others will probably have rather different opinions. Just how valuable do you think liveview really is? Once the hubba-hubba PR of liveview settles down I think even the first timers moving up from P&S will realize WHY they are moving up and prefer the A200/700 over "that liveview gimmick". The A200 and A700 seem to nail these perfectly for their price points. Speed, ISO, SSS and image quality are the heavy hitters in my opinion (add build quality-reliability for the pros). Also, given Sony's claim that liveview technology is not there yet and too many design compromises need to be made I'm wondering if this feature is premature and if it will really continue as the 'hot ticket' of the future. This was WHY I moved up from P&S to dSLR. artistic creation instead of liveview snapshot. One biggy that I noticed was how much more I truly looked, examined, composed, adjusted, created, etc. ![]() But, when I moved to the A100 I found many creative differences between a P&S and a dSLR (like learning to focus!). ![]() When my camera was a P&S I used liveview almost exclusively and tilt and swivel were really nice for shots I couldn't eyeball through the viewfinder. ![]()
